Quest System Explained

Quests are the primary driver of progression in Blood Dungeon. They reward bones, unlock characters and arenas, and grant achievements. Quests fall into four categories:

CategoryDescriptionReset Frequency
Main QuestsStory-driven milestones that unlock major contentPermanent (one-time)
Character QuestsUnlock new playable charactersPermanent (one-time)
Arena QuestsUnlock new arenas and game modesPermanent (one-time)
Daily QuestsBonus objectives for extra bonesResets every 24 hours

You can track active quests in the quest menu between runs. Main quests are always visible; daily quests refresh at midnight UTC. Completing a quest immediately grants its reward — no need to claim manually.

Important Unlock Quests

Some quests are more valuable than others because they unlock content that accelerates all future progression. Prioritize these:

1. Survivor (Reach Wave 10)

This is the most important early milestone. It unlocks Berserker (a powerful, forgiving character) and The Keep arena. Berserker's life steal makes subsequent runs much easier, accelerating all future progress.

Tips: Use Gun Man with Max Health upgrades from the Bone Shop. Focus on survival over kills. The Sewers arena is the easiest place to hit Wave 10.

2. Untouchable (Wave 15 no-damage)

Unlocks Blade Dancer, one of the two S-tier characters. The no-damage requirement is challenging but doable with practice.

Tips: Use a character with a dash or invincibility frames. The "Second Wind" charm doesn't count as taking damage if it procs. Practice Wave 1-10 patterns until they're muscle memory.

3. Boss Slayer (Defeat 3 bosses)

Unlocks Shadow Runner and gives significant bones. Bosses appear every 5 waves, so you need to reach at least Wave 15 across multiple runs.

Tips: Bosses are easier with high Bone Shop damage. Focus on damage upgrades in-run. See our enemy guide for boss-specific strategies.

4. Completionist (All characters)

The final milestone unlocks Jester and The Throne arena. This is the endgame goal and requires completing all other character unlock quests.

Efficient progression order

Wave 10 (Berserker + Keep) → Wave 15 no-damage (Blade Dancer) → Kill 1000 with poison (Plague Doctor) → Defeat 3 bosses (Shadow Runner) → Wave 20 (Ice Warden + Foundry) → Collect 100 gold (Lightning Monk) → All done (Jester + Throne).

Endgame & Completionist Guide

Once you've unlocked everything, the endgame offers several goals for dedicated players:

Achievement hunting

Blood Dungeon has 30+ Steam achievements. The challenging ones include:

  • Flawless: Complete a full 25-wave run without taking damage
  • Speed Demon: Reach Wave 20 in under 10 minutes
  • Pack Rat: Collect 10 different legendary charms in one run
  • Berserker's Bane: Defeat The Worm boss using only melee damage
  • Survivor Supreme: Reach Wave 30 in The Throne arena

Character mastery

Each character has a mastery track that levels up as you play them. Maxing mastery on all 9 characters is a significant time investment but grants small permanent bonuses and character-specific skins.

Leaderboard competition

Global leaderboards track highest wave reached and highest score per arena per character. Endgame players often compete for top 100 placements, especially on The Throne arena where scores are most competitive.

Daily quest optimization

Once you're strong, daily quests become the most efficient bone source. A full set of daily quests takes about 15-20 minutes and rewards 100-200 bones. Log in daily to maximize your bone income.

Pro Tips & Common Mistakes

Pro Tips

  • Focus on one unlock at a time — don't spread yourself thin
  • Daily quests give the best bones-per-hour ratio
  • Use Berserker for progression once unlocked (most forgiving)
  • Track quest progress in the menu between runs
  • Save difficult no-damage runs for when you have strong upgrades

Avoid These Mistakes

  • Ignoring daily quests (free bones every day)
  • Trying The Throne before fully upgrading
  • Playing multiple characters without mastering one first
  • Forgetting to claim quest rewards (some are manual)
  • Spending bones on skins before unlocking all content

// TOWN CRIER — FAQ

How long does it take to unlock everything?
For an average player, expect 30-50 hours of playtime to unlock all characters, arenas and complete the main questline. Achievement hunting and mastery can add another 20-30 hours.
Do I need to complete quests in order?
No. Most quests can be completed in any order. However, some quests require content unlocked by others (e.g., you can't reach Wave 15 in The Keep until you unlock The Keep by reaching Wave 10).
What happens after 100% completion?
After unlocking everything, you can pursue achievements, character mastery and leaderboard rankings. The game also receives occasional updates with new content.
